Rachel Whiteread's solo exhibition at Goodwood Art Foundation opens on May 31 and will remain on view through November 2, 2025. Creating a fascinating dialogue between artworks displayed indoors and outdoors, this exhibition is the first major presentation to showcase a range of Whiteread’s sculptures alongside her recent photographic work. Together, they offer a chance to reflect on the relationship between nature and form, and on the narratives and memories contained within the objects and structures that surround us.
Inside The Gallery, two major sculptures by Whiteread reveal the recent evolution of her sculptural language, while a lesser known, rarely seen, but important aspect of the artist’s practice is brought to light in a poignant new series of photographs. Cast sculptures from different periods of Whiteread’s career, including Pair (1999) and Detached II (2012), as well as a major new work, can be found across our landscape. As it transitions through 24 seasonal moments, vistas and views of these works will morph and evolve.
